Lake Burien Reflections

by Paul Harper

Preface

Contents consist of a loose collection of recollections, documentation. plagiarism’s and outright fabrications by Paul Harper.

We are grateful for the use of material from the Washington State Archives. Burien Library. (Highline Times, Seattle Times clippings) and background information from the Many Roads to Highland and Our Burien both authored by persons with Lake Burien backgrounds[footnote 1].

Corrections and additions:
The material presented here was lovingly provided by our dear friend Paul Harper. Rather than rewrite his work for him, we can add any changes as footnotes to the original work.

Footnote 1 - Note from Cyndi Upthegrove - May 16, 1999
I found an error in the posting of Paul Harper's memoirs. When you mention The Many Roads to Highline and Our Burien there is a claim that the authors of these books have some connection to the lake. The only connection any of them have is that they also live in Burien. Melba Eyler is the surviving co-author of The Many Roads.... and she lives on 158th....but not on the lake. Esther Balzarini, who wrote Our Burien, is the sister-in-law of our late friend and resident, Angelo Balzarini - but she never lived on the lake.
